MacDonald Island Park is honoured to be the host venue for the annual Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 165 Remembrance Day ceremony on Monday, November 11.

On Saturday, October 19, the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) and Suncor Energy celebrated community at the 2019 Community Play Day on the Island. Thousands of residents joined in the recreational fun for a day of complimentary access to MacDonald Island Park and additional free activities.

A new way to play is now available for MacDonald Island Park members with the introduction of a tiered membership model. Guests now have the option to elevate their MIP experience with the new all-inclusive MemberPLUS+ category.

On Friday, September 6, the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) welcomed partners and stakeholders for a Golf Tournament event that celebrated the on-going commitment to recreation within the region. The Miskanaw Golf Club welcomed approximately 120 of the RRC’s supporters from organizations, community groups and Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) representatives.

(Fort McMurray, August 29, 2019) Race day is just around the corner and now is the time to register; Fort McMurray Marathon general registration is closing August 31 with late registration opening September 1.

(Fort McMurray, AB – August 28, 2019) Celebrate with pretzels and pilsners at MacDonald Island Park as the community welcomes the annual Oktoberfest event on September 28. In its fourth year, the event will embrace Bavarian culture more than ever while moving the celebration outside into a large festival style tent. The one-night festivity will feature live music, German-inspired food and a variety of beer available for purchase.

(Fort McMurray, August 28, 2019) The Kirschner Family Community Art Gallery at MacDonald Island Park is pleased to present to the community a new exhibition by local artist Andrea Brasch, also known as Andy M, named Biological Burgeon.

(Fort McMurray, August 7, 2019) At a press conference on August 6, 2019, the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) in partnership with Legacy Dodge Fort McMurray unveiled the Legacy Dodge Field located at Shell Place. The amenity partnership is a five-year agreement between the two organizations for the naming rights associated with the baseball field located at Shell Place.
