New: Temporary Unionized Staff Recall – Golf Operations - May 15, 2020 

As you may be aware, the Government of Alberta’s COVID-19 relaunch strategy includes the reopening of Alberta Golf courses and as such we will open the following unionized positions for temporary recall to support Miskanaw Golf Club operations.

  • If you are interested in being temporarily redeployed to either of the following positions, email HR Services no later than Sunday May 17th by 10am.  

  • You will be notified 24 hours in advance prior to starting your first shift.

Grounds Operator 1 ($23.66/hour) (18 Positions)


QUALIFICATIONS:    
Education and Experience:
•    Completion of High School or GED Equivalent
•    Valid Class 5 Drivers License
•    Should possess a high level of enthusiasm, be self- motivated and able to work independently or in a group
•    Must be able to follow oral and written directions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
•    This position works various shifts including evenings, holidays and weekends as required
•    Must have the ability to bend, squat and frequently lift 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
•    Work tasks are performed indoors and outdoors. Temperatures may vary 
 

Horticulturist ($31.00/hour) (1 Position)


QUALIFICATIONS:  


Education and Experience:
•    Completion of High School OR GED Equivalent OR Certificate in Horticulture or Landscaping
•    Valid Alberta Pesticide Applicator Certificate or ability to acquire
•    Possession of valid Alberta Operator's Licence
•    Two years of progressively responsible horticulture experience
•    Prior experience designing, installing and maintaining landscaping plantings in a park setting
•    Working knowledge of tools, maintain, and repair equipment used in horticulture
•    Proven leadership capabilities and ability to work in a team oriented environment
•    Ability to operate light and heavy equipment
•    Ability to follow oral and written directions
•    Ability to communicate effectively with other supervisors and seasonal staff
•    Ability to solve problems and make decisions in a fast paced work environment
•    Must be highly organized, detail oriented and understand time management

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:


•    This position works various shifts including evenings, holidays and weekends as required. 
•    Must be able to safely operate a variety of mechanically powered rolling equipment, and manual and electric hand tools used in horticulture, farming and agriculture
•    Must also be able to work safely in an environment requiring frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals
•    Must have the ability to bend, squat and frequently lift 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
•    Work tasks are performed indoors and outdoors. Temperatures may vary
