ONE Team Update - April 2, 2020

I hope you and your families are staying safe and healthy during this time. In follow up to my email from March 23, today I’m providing an update to confirm that our current operational plan will be extended for one additional week, from April 9 to April 16. Until April 16, we will continue to see all currently scheduled Full-Time and Regular Part-Time One Team Members reporting to work. The major annual shutdown projects that we have accelerated are well underway and we are making excellent progress in advancing these projects.

Our Senior Leadership Team continues to monitor the situation at hand and is working through all of the options available to us for future phases of our plan. We will carry on working toward a sustainable path forward in support of the best interests of our team, the organization and the community.

With regard to the next phase of our plan, please anticipate that I will follow up with you no later than the end of the day on Thursday, April 9. We appreciate the questions that have been coming in from our team. Please note that I will continue to set aside 1 - 2 p.m. daily for team members who would like to chat with me about any questions or concerns.

To arrange a time to chat, please reach out to Nichole at Nichole James

Thank you again to staff for your continued support and flexibility with all of the ongoing project work and also for your diligence in ensuring we are adhering to our safe work practices and procedures with every task.

A quick reminder that anyone at a higher risk, including those who are elderly, pregnant, chronically ill, have compromised immune systems or pre-existing respiratory disease may request alternate arrangements to be redeployed. This will also be the case for those with young children who are impacted by the closure of schools and daycares. Please reach out to your supervisors to discuss the process for handling these special circumstances.

Full-Time and Regular Part-Time employees will again be reporting to work as scheduled unless alternative arrangements have been made with supervisors regarding these special circumstances. Also a reminder that scheduled employees may choose to self-isolate at any time and in doing so may apply any accrued leave time for these absences (i.e. earned time off, vacation, personal days). If you do not have accrued leave time, any requested time off will be without pay.

Upon request, HR will provide a Record of Employment to facilitate employment insurance applications. These requests should be sent directly to Lisa Major.

Information related to employment insurance can be found at the following link: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/ei.html

Please remember that resources are available to you and I encourage you to reach out for support if needed. Help is available 24/7 at 1-800-663-1142 with more resources available through the Wood Buffalo Mental Health Association https://woodbuffalo.cmha.ca/news/covid19-update-on-services/.
